
Fierce Conversations Training
Audience
Principals, superintendents, central office and AEA leaders
Description
This training will enhance skills in conducting one of four types of conversations between leaders and those they supervise: (1) Team Conversations; (2) Coaching Conversations; (3) Delegation Conversations; and (4) Confrontation Conversations. It helps leaders confront tough issue with confidence and skill, create an environment in which team members address multiple and competing realities, and enriches the most challenging of relationships. Advanced reading of the book Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott would be helpful, although not required (order from Amazon.com).

Intended outcomes
Participants will gain skills in the seven principles for Fierce Conversations: (1) Master the courage to interrogate reality; (2) Come out from behind ourself into the conversation and make it real; (3) Be here, prepared to be nowhere else; (4) Tackle your toughest challenge today; (5) Obey your instincts; (6) Take responsibility for your emotional wake; and (7) Let silence do the heavy lifting.
Evaluation
Time for practice in the skills will be built into the agenda; participant feedback on the value of the training will also be gathered.

Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites. It would be helpful to read Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott prior to the training. The training builds on coaching skills addressed in the recent Evaluator Trainings.
